How to Write a Witness Statement Writing a witness statement is quite simple actually, it is the same as writing a journal about the experience you had on the date in question. However, instead of a journal, you will be writing in a legal document and you may, in certain cases, be required to present them again in court as a piece of evidence.
Instead start by identifying yourself and then stating the reason you are writing. Describe what happened step by step, chronologically, all leading up to your current position. Use dates and whatever specifics you have. If there are documents that support your argument, attach copies to your letter.
